Dr. Joseph K. Young, Advanced Board Certified Optometric Physician

Dr. Young is Advanced Board Certified in Optometry, and in the treatment and management of Ocular Disease. He also specializes in all types of contact lens fits including hard-to-fit. Dr. Young has helped thousands of patients of all ages with their eye health by performing detailed, comprehensive eye exams.

Dr. Young is the recipient of a multitude of awards as well as Academic & Externship Honors which include, among others, BSK (BETA SIGMA KAPPA) Optometric Honors, Primary Care Externship Honors, Cornea & Contact Lens Externship Honors, the Milroy Optical Scholastic Scholarship, Dean's List and winner of the International Opticianry Competition.
Local recognition include the Lion's Club prestigious Connecticut Knight of the Blind, Melvin Jones and Gene Poulos awards honoring Dr. Young for his dedication to humanitarian service. In addition, he is the recipient of the 2009 Kevin's Community Center volunteer of the year.
The Doctor is committed to the ocular health of our children and senior citizens. To that end, he conducts teaching seminars to our school nurses as well as our senior citizen groups. He also proudly represents the Lion's Club examining visitors at the Newtown and Danbury Health Fairs as well as the Special Olympics.
Dr. Young's commitment to ocular health has now expanded internationally being the first Eye Doctor to visit Honduras with the Community Health Partnership-Honduras Medical Mission (CHPH). Visit our We Give Back! to see his video.
The Doctor is well known for his superb diagnostic skills and discovering the root cause of vision issues. His quality patient care is exemplary, and is quoted, "Truly listening to what the patient has to say, treating the patient as a "whole person", along with in-depth testing is the key to solving the patient's eye care problem". Dr. Young is always on call for emergencies and consultations with other physicians.

Cheryl is our Optical/Lab Manager Optician with 30 years of experience.
It takes a specialist to help you see the best with the latest technology. As an Optical Manger, Cheryl has expertise in creating a Total EyeWear Design matching the best frame and high tech lens with the patient’s visual needs. What is good for one design may not be good for another. If you need to be on a computer all day, Cheryl has a lens for that. If you need reading, driving or inside/outside glasses, Cheryl has a lens for that too. |

Her Lab manager experience includes all aspects of an optical lab from cutting to tweaking those repairs or adjustments to make it the perfect fit.

Eunice
Eunice has been with our practice for well over 14 years and is our Check Out/Charge Manager. Eunice not only checks you out, but reviews if there are any possible hidden insurance coverage or extra ways you may be able to save you money. Patient hidden coverage is not uncommon these days so it is a welcome surprise when Eunice finds it for you.
